Superior Northern Operations and Layout

Aug. 22, 2019 - Held our first operating session at Sunset with the "new" Superior Northern layout.  Information about the next operating session will be posted here or an email can be sent to the webmaster requesting a person be placed on an email operating session notification list.

The Superior Northern is a fictitious railroad formed primarily by purchasing abandoned rights-of-way and obtaining trackage rights to many of the small towns and smaller  mines in the iron mining ranges of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, specifically in and around the Marquette range. Trackage rights were obtained from the DSS&A, LS&I, and the CNW.  More of what limited Superior Northern history is available can be read by clicking here.  Displayed below is a route map of the Upper Peninsula with the various railroads (both modeled and non-modeled) displayed.   A printable pdf version of any map can be downloaded by clicking on the map.  The print orientation should be set to landscape.

Additional information about the state of construction, club operation, prototype photos, and links to more information can be obtained by clicking on the attraction name in the box.
