The Riverbend Model Railroad Club has been and will continue to be active in promoting both the historical preservation of railroading, particularly the iron ore railroading era of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and the artistry, comradely, and FUN of model railroading.  The club works to accomplish this by encouraging visitors from within the Sunset Retirement Communities,  visitors from "off the street" who may become aware of the club via various ways (word of mouth, web sites, visiting Sunset, train show, etc.), arranged talks and tours of the Superior Northern layout, and reaching out to schools with talks and demonstrations of model railroading.  If you or your organization is interested in more information about The Riverbend Model Railroad Club please use our Contact Us page.   Below  and on the sides are some pictures and comments on previous visits to the Club and some educational activities performed by the Club.

Sunset was closed to the Club from March 13, 2010 until July 2021 due to Covid 19.  None of the club members could get into the club to work and visitors could not come down to see the operations or layout.  Even after the club room opened up after July visitors were very few partialy due to the visiting rules set down by Sunset for masks, etc.  As some rules were relaxed in 2022 masks were still required and visits to the club were not encouraged and the open visiting information was removed from the Sunset calendar.  In December of 2022 an open house was arranged and the visiting information was added back to the Sunset calendar.
